Welcome to the superintendent’s page of the Orange Beach City Schools’ website. I am Randy Wilkes, and I am proud to be the first-ever Superintendent of Orange Beach City Schools. I believe that the system’s website is the hub of district information that is relevant to all stakeholders. I hope you find this resource to be useful and informative.

Orange Beach Elementary School is a National Blue Ribbon School! This coveted award is given to schools that exemplify excellence in education. Orange Beach Elementary was also recognized as an Exemplary High Performing School.  This means the school ranks in the top 15 percent of all schools on Alabama state assessments in both reading and mathematics.

Orange Beach Elementary School is also the home of Sea, Sand, and Stars. The science and nature center features a 5,800-gallon saltwater aquarium, 1,500-gallon marine life touch-tank, 800 foot nature boardwalk with outdoor classrooms, planetarium, microscope lab, library, and gift shop. In the future, Sea, Sand, and Stars will host field trips and currently serves Orange Beach Elementary students during the academic school year.

Orange Beach Middle and High Schools are in pursuit of academic excellence, and copious opportunities that extend beyond the classroom setting.  The schools offer robust options for students at all grade levels, including co-curricular and extracurricular activities.  The high school offers a wide array of courses that include but are not limited to, Advanced Placement, foreign-language, graphic design, hospitality and tourism, and performing arts. In addition, students have the opportunity to participate in more than 20 sports including the likes of swimming, bowling, and skeet shooting.

The school system is the heart of this community. The foundation of our success is built upon the system’s

  • Ability to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for students to grow and develop
  • Use of research or evidenced-based teacher strategies that more actively engage students in the learning process
  • Utilization of high-quality, innovative, and engaging curricula that fashions future-proofed skills that will serve the overarching needs of the community
  • Implementation of cost-effective strategies that ensure fiscal prosperity

The people in our community make a difference every day for our students!  Our staff is dedicated to meeting each child’s academic, social and emotional needs. The Orange Beach City School Board and the system’s leadership team are committed to providing each school with the necessary resources to ensure success. Parents and community members give to our schools generously in terms of their time, talent, and resources.

Orange Beach City Schools is busy creating a lasting legacy!  We look forward to this journey together as we continually seek the best means to prepare our students to be the successful leaders of tomorrow.
